La Gorgone is the perfect place to stay if an authentic Sicilian atmosphere is the aim on the vacation. There are countless attractions, wonderful resteaurants and beautiful scenery just few minutes of walking in any given direction from the front door. Sitting on the balcony and enjoying the sun and the ocean breases makes for a great pass time during the warmest part of the day and a swim in the Mediterranean Sea is literally just around the corner. The appartment itself is comfortable and it is in a nice condition and equipped with everything needed for a week or two in Ortigia. Thats why we’re happy to give our highest recommendation to having La Gorgone as your home base while visiting this fantastic place.

The appartment was very clean, in a great location (you definitely want to stay in Ortigia!) and had a balcony overlooking the sea (maybe 60m away).The kitchen appliances were pretty basic (hob and microwave) but suited our needs for quick meals.We even had a little gift of cakes upon arrival! Overall would definitely recommend!

This apartment is very authentic and conviniently located on the nice island of Ortiga. Close to the water for bathing, supermarkets for groceries and resturants for dinner. The apartment has everything a couple needs. Roberta was helpful throughout our stay and responded to enquiries more or less instantly.We stayed for 2 weeks and Roberta was kind enough to clean the apartment after 1 week, free of charge.All in all, we really enjoyed our stay at this apartment and on the island of Ortiga. We can only recommend this home to others.

The place is a beautiful and typical appartement. You have everything you need to have a comfortable stay ! We stayed for 2 weeks and after the first week we had a cleaning lady that has change the sheets, towels, etc wich was much appreciated.
Roberta was very caring and helpful, she was quick to answer to any of my questions.
We had a beautiful stay !

Bien que n’ayant pas pu rencontrer Roberta en personne, nous avons été très bien reçu par sa maman. Le logement était impeccable et quelques petites attentions personnalisés étaient offertes, comme une spécialité local et une peluche pour notre bébé. Roberta est très réactive par messagerie ou par téléphone ce qui également très appréciable. Enfin, l’emplacement dans le vieux quartier de Syracuse et en bord de mer est excellent.

“Beautiful apartment in historic Ortigia.”

The location is central for all sites of interest in Ortigia (for example only a couple of minutes walk from the Piazza Duomo). It is also only two minutes walk from the local Solarium (public safe swimming area); perfect for early morning swims!
The apartment itself is clean and contains everything you need, including a corkscrew! It has been characterfully renovated , and the little roof terrace provides lovely views of the sea and surrounding rooftops.
Local supermarkets are very close by, and the daily fresh produce market is only 10 minutes walk away.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Roberta was very generous and responsive during our stay in Ortigia. Her apartment is a great base for a stay there, especially given its proximity to the ocean, where we swam each day, the museums,
and the fantastic restaurants. I thoroughly recommend staying here if you’re after something cosy, well run, and beautifully positioned.

Quite a spacious apartment for two: living room/inbuilt kitchen downstairs, and large bedroom upstairs. This place has character: old but well-maintained. Safe, behind three locked doors. Central location in Ortygia. It’s in a small street, so parking is a challenge, though Talete Parking (10 in coins for 24h) is not far, and we think (!) parking between the arcade closest to the police station opposite Talete and Talete is free. Nice cafe with plenty sorts of beer at the corner, minimarket in adjacent street, so nice to buy and prepare stuff and eat at balcony, restaurants nearby as well. We were late checking in, due to queuing up at the airport CAR RENTAL and Sicilian-style motorway signs… but Roberta’s brother was so kind not to bother. We dealt with him, and only had mail and phone contacts with Roberta, which were pleasant and easy. She found the place romantic for us, two guys on a long honeymoon trip – so gay-friendly – and we agree with her 🙂

Roberta had everything in control before our arrival in Syracusa eventhough she herself was out of town, her brother was on the spot to show us everything. The appartment is very charming, brad new renovation of a 1802 house true to its original style, ceramic floor, raw wooden bars as ceiling with a low height loft-room for beedroom where there is a small window with seawiev.. perfect cosy enviorment for our honeymoon. All the basics are in perfect shape. Not to mention the charm of the neighboorhood the eastern part of Ortigia Syracruse, away from the worst turistic buzz, with real people and real families in the small streets.

E ‘molto bello, confortevole e decorate in stile tradizionale appartamento in una piccola strada di Siracusa, che è una città davvero affascinante. Solo il parcheggio era un po ‘complicato lì. Roberta e sua madre ci accolgono molto cordiale e ci ha dato alcuni consigli utili che ci hanno aiutato muoversi. Grazie mille!

Un accogliente appartamento situato in un ottimo punto salta fuori per Ortigia e le attrazioni intorno Siracusa. Dal momento che è situato in una strada stretta, avrai la sensazione piena italiana. Il parcheggio può essere difficile da trovare, ma c’è un parcheggio a pagamento lungo la strada. Io consiglio di soggiornare in Ortigia Siracusa, piuttosto che come avrete un’esperienza molto più romantico passeggiare per le strade strette. Un sacco di ristoranti e negozi. Roberta era una grande schiera e prontamente comunicati e organizzato tutto.

Anfang Mai waren wir als Paar für eine Woche im Casa Gorgone, 4 Tage in der Wohnung Medusa (Foto 1 – 9) und 3 Tage in Stena (Foto 10 – 16). Medusa ist klein (aber für 2 Personen vollkommen ausreichend) und hat eine schöne (kleine) Dachterrasse mit Meerblick. Stena ist großzügig (auch das Bad!) mit kleinem Balkon über der lebhaften Gasse (ohne Autoverkehr). Die Wohnungen sind geschmack- und liebevoll eingerichtet und verfügen über alles Nötige; wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und von Roberta gut betreut. In Ortigia gibt viel zu entdecken und es lässt sich alles zu Fuß erreichen. Außerdem haben wir drei Ausflüge mit dem Auto gemacht: nach Pantalica, zu den Cava Grande del Cassibile und ans Meer zu den Vendicari – alles sehr zu empfehlen (nur ein Parkplatz ist in Ortigia sehr schwer zu finden…).

Our week long stay at Euriale was wonderful. Roberta and her family were friendly hosts who did everything they could to help with our stay.
The apartment is will equipped and the pictures are a good representation. It is an apartment that you could happily stay in for either a short or a long stay.
As the apartment is recently renovated, everything is very new and clean. The location is good.
I recommend this apartment and Roberta for consideration if you plan to visit Siracusa.

Highlight of our trip by far. If you’re wondering whether to stay in Ortigia or the ‘mainland’ part of Syracuse, don’t hesitate – all the action is in Ortigia. We *loved* waking up and having breakfast on the roof terrace with the sun coming up over the sea. It was perfect and I don’t use that word lightly.

The place is small, but so well thought-out and organized that there is nothing to improve about it. It’s tastefully decorated and feels homey. Roberta was extremely helpful and attentive before and during out stay – we really enjoyed everything about our experience.

Great appartment, in a great city. We really love the view of the sea we had from our private rooftopterrace. The kitchen was also well equipped, which made it possible for us to cook our own meals with the fresh fish from the market. Roberta, as well as her brother and mother are the perfect hosts!

Great location in the old town in charming Ortigia. Roberta was lovely to deal with and quick to respond. The apartment itself is small and basic, so if you are looking for spacious luxury then this is not for you. However it was fine for us as a couple, as we were out and about most of the time and simply wanted a quiet, affordable base in a good location – and it was all of these things so it suited us well. Also other the breakfast we were not wanting to use the little kitchenette much (which was lucky as it wasnt sufficiently equipped for cooking a 3 course dinner or anything). The little balcony with a nice BONUS for breakfast in the sun or a pre dinner wine.

We had a wonderful stay in Syracuse at Roberta’s place. Great location, close to the Piazza del Duomo and Piazza Archimede. The place was very clean and comfortable, and Roberta stayed in touch during our stay to make sure everything was okay. She also arranged for her brother to pick us up from the airport at Catania as we were worried at arriving so late, and not being able to get a taxi.

Accueil très sympathique par Roberta, qui s’est montrée disponible et réactive. Petit mais joli appartement très bien placé sur l’île d’Ortigia, calme. C’est un vrai plaisir de prendre son petit déjeuner au soleil sur la terrasse en regardant la mer.
le seul bémol est la literie, un peu dure à mon goût. Mais une belle expérience tout de même!

Roberta was a terrific host and she had made great efforts to make the guests feel welcome – embroidered linen sheets, shower gel, and basic supplies in kitchen and bathroom. The apartment is in a wonderful location in the Giudecca, very near the sea front, with free parking, and Ortigia is fascinating. It was lovely to enjoy breakfast on the roof terrace, watching the lobster fisherman tending their traps.

Her other apartment is equally lovely, a lot bigger, with a tiny balcony to perch on and watch the sea and the world go by. Or you can relax in the mezzanine with a book and a lovely view!

I highly recommend Roberta and her apartments for a very enjoyable stay in the wonderful Ortigia.
